Misinformation Detection on Social Media: Challenges and The Road Ahead

Due to the volume of fake news contents on social media is increasing, the public is becoming intensively concerned about how they can rely upon such information. Since the existing AI-based (or machine learning) and information hiding based misinformation detection techniques do not provide sufficient performance to identify the integrity of information on social media, these platforms must technically employ various mechanisms to reduce the dissemination of fake news as much as possible. In this talk, we discuss the current challenges that limit the scalability of the state-of-the-art solutions and present countermeasures to overcome these barriers.
